Here Is How Salomon Kalou Has Fared Since He Left Chelsea

Former Chelsea striker, Salomon Kalou is one of the best attackers to have ever played for Chelsea. He was renowned for his high work rate, pace and elite mentality. He will also be remembered for forming a great dressing room atmosphere with the likes of Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and John Terry.

Kalou is currently 36, and he’s without a club, but he has not announced an official retirement. Hopefully, he could play more club football before he eventually calls time on his football career. His last club football involvement was in 2021 when he played for Brazilian league side, Botafogo. He spent just a year there before he left on mutual consent after a low return of 1 goal in 27 appearances. This is obviously a sign of age catching up with him.

The peak of Kalou’s career was winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea in 2012. The season didn’t start really well for him, as he couldn’t get regular playing time under Andre Villas-Boas. His fortunes eventually changed when Roberto Di Matteo was appointed, and he secured his starting spot again. He was crucial to Chelsea’s Champions League and FA Cup triumphs, playing in both finals.

Kalou has had a decorated career so far, winning the English Premier League, 4 FA Cup titles, League Cup, FA Community Shield, UEFA Champions League and African Cup Of Nations with the Ivorian national team.
