In this article I am going to be sharing with you 10 Nollywood actors you may not know are from Anambra State and the name of their town. Nollywood is blessed with talents and it will surprise you to known that most of these talented actors are from Anambra State which is popularly known as light of the nation. Anambra state has produced lots of talented actors who have contributed immensely to the progress and success of the Nigerian film industry popularly known as Nollywood.

These star actors are blessed with talents and creativity. They are very skillful and know how to interpret any role given to them by film producers and directors. So not to wasteful much of your time, after a careful study and research I present to you 10 Nollywood actors you may not know are from Anambra State and the name of their town.

1. Zubby Michael

Azubuike Michael Egwu popularly known as Zubby Michael is a Nollywood actor and producer. He was born on 1st February 1985 in Ozubulu Anambra State, Nigeria and currently 37 years old. He is known for his role in Three Windows, Royal Storm and Professional Lady. His first appearance was in the movie titled Missing Rib but known for The Three Widows where he played the lead role. Zubby Michael hails from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. He grew up in Adamawa where he completed his primary and secondary school education. After which he attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka and obtained a degree in Mass Communication.

2. Ken Erics

 

Ken Erics is a Nollywood actor, singer and television personality. He is popularly known for his role as Ugo in the movie ‘The Illiterate.’ Ken Erics was born on 28th February 1985 in Kano State in the northern part of Nigeria, but he is originally from Anambra state. Ken Erics had his primary education at Binta Mustapha Science Nursery and Primary School, Kano, and his secondary education at Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha, Anambra State. After which he attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, where he graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts. He also holds a master’s degree in Theatre and Film studies. In 2017, Ken Erics won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the City People Entertainment Award as well as Best Actor of the Year.

3. Jim Iyke

Jim Iyke is a veteran Nollywood actor and producer. He was born on 25th September 1976 in Libreville, Gabon, but hails from Ogwugwu Village in Enugu Agidi town of Anambra State, Nigeria. He received his education at the University of Jos in Plateau State where he obtained his bachelor degree in Philosophy and then succeeded in getting a diploma in Banking and Finance.  Aside starring in the movies, Jim Iyke also produces his own movies with the help of his production company. His company was founded in 2007 and called “Untamed Productions”. Jim Iyke has won a lot of prestigious awards.

4. Pete Edochie

Pete Edochie is a veteran Nollywood actor. He was born in 7th March, 1947 in Enugu, Nigeria. He is currently 75 years old. Pete Edochie hails from Nteje in Oyi Local Government of Anambra state, Nigeria. Pete Edochie is considered as one of Africa’s most talented actors, being honored with an Industry Merit Award by the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award and a Lifetime Achievement by Africa Film Academy. Although a seasoned administrator and broadcaster, he came into prominence in the 1980s, when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in an NTA adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time bestselling novel, Things Fall Apart.

5. Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie is a Nollywood actor, director and producer. He is the last son of Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie. He was born on 7th January 1982, and currently 40 years old. Yul Edochie hails from Nteje in Oyi Local Government Anambra state, Nigeria. He was raised both in Lagos and Enugu. He got married at the age of 22. He attended the University of Port Harcourt, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts. He Joined Nollywod in 2005 and acted in his first film titled “The Exquires,” alongside the Late Justus Esiri and Enebeli Elebuwa. He got his break in 2007 after featuring alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot in the movie “Wind of Glory”.

6. Don Brymo

Don Brymo Uchegbu is a veteran Nollywood actor and a television personality. He acts mostly in action and epic movies alongside with Zubby Michael, Ken Erics, Yul Edochie, Ngozi Ezeonu, Chika Ike, Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh and other top Nollywood celebrities. He was born on 24th November 1966 in Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. He is currently 55 years old. Don Brymo acts mostly as a king, business tycoon and a father in Nollywood movies. He is currently married with beautiful kids.

7. Nonso Diobi

Nonso Diobi is a multiple award winning Nigerian actor and film director. He was born 17th July, 1985 and currently 37 years old. While studying Theatre Art at the University of Nigeria, he made his debut on-screen appearance in a 2001 film titled Border Line, followed by an outstanding performance in the movie titled “Hatred”. Nonso Diobi went on to give a sterling performance in the movie ‘Across the bridge,’ which gave him his major breakthrough, after which he became a house-hold name across Africa. Nonso Diobi is a native of Nawfia, a town in Anambra State, Nigeria. He is the founder and chairman of Goldentape media, a leading film/tv production company in Nigeria.

8. Amaechi Muonagor

Amaechi Muonagor is a veteran Nollywood actor and producer. He was born in Idemili, Anambra State. In 2016, he was nominated for Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy. Amaechi Muonagor is from Obosi village in Idemili, Anambra State. He attended St. Mary’s Primary School, Obosi and Oraifite Grammar School before he furthered his education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he studied Economics and graduated in 1987. In 1989, after his youth service, Amaechi Muonagor started working for News Agency of Nigeria. He left his job a few years later for an acting role in his first movie as Chief Akunatakasi in the blockbuster movie Taboo.

9. Bob-Manuel Udokwu

Bob-Manuel Udokwu is a veteran Nollywood actor and producer. In 2014, he received the Lifetime Achievement award at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards. He was nominated for Best Actor in a supporting role at the 2013 Nollywood Movies Awards for his role in Adesuwa. He hails from Nkwelle-Ogidi in Idemmili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The name of his father is Geoffrey Nwafor Udokwu, and the name of his mother is Ezelagbo Udokwu. He was born in Enugu State. He is the fourth child in a family of 6 children. He is also the second son. He comes from a family which consists of three male and three female children. 10. Tony Umez

Tony Umez is a veteran Nollywood actor. He has acted in more than 200 Nollywood films both in English and Yoruba languages, since his debut in the 1994 film Died Wretched. Tony Umez hails from Ogidi in Anambra State. His mother is from Cross River State while his father is from Ogidi in Anambra state. Despite his Igbo origin, he doesn’t speak Igbo but can fluently speak Efik, his mother’s language. Tony Umez grew up in Lagos, where he had his primary and secondary education. He also has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English and also a master’s degree in international law, and diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
