Nollywood is the top movie industry in Africa and for this reason, has built many actors to become super stars in the continent.
However, despite the high respect given to Nollywood Super Stars, some still degrade their own dignity and legacy, by committing extremely unfortunate crimes, which lead them to prison.
Here are 5 Nollywood Super Stars who went to prison for committing extremely wicked crimes.
Uche Odoputa
Uche Odoputa was arrested in 2017 at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport for cocain possession. He was sentenced to eight months in prison.
In an interview after his release, he said he did that because he was underpaid in Nollywood. He also said his friends in London deceived him into drug trafficking promising him that, it will change his financial problems in a the fast possible time.
Ibinabo Fiberesima
In 2006 after she became a popular Nollywood Actress after winning Miss Nigeria in 1991, Ibinabo Fiberesima killed a medical doctor of Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Giwa Surag by knocking him with her car.
She was sentenced to five years inprisonment f on the charges of reckless driving and manslaughter in March 2016.
She was granted bail with an amount of N2 million in April same year.
Ola Margaret Oladipupo
Nollywood actress, director and producer Ola Margare Oladipupo was arrested in the US and detained for money laundary.
She was sentenced to court but releases after few months for pleading guilty in 2018 and deported back to Nigeria.
Raibi Ismaila (Raibi Ismailia)
The Kano based Nollywood actress was arrested and sentenced to prison for killing her boyfriend., Mr. Ibrahim Auwalu by poisoning his drink in 2002.
She was sentenced to death on Janueary 5, 2015.
Raibi Ismaila escaped prison in 2011 but was rearrested in 2017.
Taiwo Akinwande
The Yourba Actess popularly known as Yetunde Wunmi is popular for her acting skills in Nigeria especially with the Youbas.
She was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for drug possession at the Mohammed Airport when boarding Virgin Atlantic plane to London.
Taiwo was senctenced to 3 years in prision after pleading guilty at Federal High Court Lagos.
