We have heard and seen siblings who play for the same football team, and we believe its a normal thing, don’t we?
Surprisingly, would you believe that there are actually some brothers who have played against each other.
In this article, we would get to know about related brothers but happened to be opponents on the football pitch.

1) Yaya Toure and Kolo Toure ;
Yaya and Kolo Toure are brothers who have both played for Ivory coast. Yaya Toure played for Manchester City while Kolo Toure was an Arsenal player. Due to the fact that both brothers played in the English Premier League, the duo played against each other for a couple of games before Yaya Toure was later sold out by Pep Guardiola, Manchester City new head coach then.
2) Andre Ayew and Jordan Ayew;
Andre and Jordan were Ghanian brothers. Jordan played for Aston Villa while his brother played for Swansea city in England. The two brothers always turn rivals whenever there is a clash between the clubs they are representing.
3) Gary Neville and Phil Neville;
Gary and his brother were both Manchester United players before Phil Neville went to Everton in 2005. The two brothers turn rivals whenever they are playing against each other because there is no friend or relation on the pitch aside teammates.
Gary Neville and Phil Neville happened to be the first brothers to captain their respective teams against each other. This happened in 2006.
4) Kevin Prince Boateng and Jerome Boateng;
These two brothers were born and brought up in Germany while there parents were born in Ghana, an African country.
The duo played many games against each other both at club side and international level. But, the most notable match they played against each other was at the 2014 World Cup tournament that took place in South Africa.
Jerome Boateng represented Germany while his brother, Kevin Prince played for Ghana.
5) Paul Pogba and Florentin Pogba;
Paul and his elder brother, Florentin are both French players. Then, Paul Pogba plays for Manchester United, though he has moved to Juventus on a free transfer earlier this month. While Florentin plays for Saint Etienne, a French football club.
In 2017, the two lovely brothers played against each other during the Europa League round of 32 match in order to know which team will proceed to the next round.
Fortunately for Paul Pogba, his team, Manchester United defeated his brother’s team.
6) Thiago Alcantara and Rafinha Alcantara;
Thiago and Rafinha are both brothers. Thiago joined Barcelona at the age of 14 with his younger brother, Rafinha. Thiago later moved to Bayern Munich in Germany. Also, Rafinha joined Paris Saint Germain in 2020.
In 2015, Rafinha and his elder brother, Thiago played against each other. Rafinha’s team, Barcelona defeated Thiago’s Bayern Munich by 3-0 in the first leg of Champions league semi final.
