2021 Analysis: 5 Remarkable Good Things That Rocked The Nigerian Entertainment Industry This Year
2021 was indeed a year of so many remarkable events such as the massive burial of Obi Cubana’s mother or Wizkid selling out the O2 Arena in London three times in a row. It was also a year of so many ups and downs. As the year comes to an end, take a look at five remarkable good things that happened in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

1. Burna boy and Wizkid brought home two Grammies
Wizkid and Burna Boy made headlines on several occasions throughout the year, one of which was when they earned Grammy Awards. Wizkid was featured in Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girl and the hit song which was released in 2019 earned them a Grammy for the best music video.
Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall also earned him a Grammy Award for the best global music album. It was a thing of joy for fans of the music industry as both stars celebrated their Grammies which they earned in March 2021.
2. P-Square’s reunion
Peter and Paul Okoye who formed the musical duo P-Square settled their five-year-long beef a few days to their birthday in November. Fans first speculated the end of their beef after Peter and Paul followed each other on Instagram.
Peter (Mr.P) was also seen hanging out with Paul’s (Rudeboy) kids in the United States. The speculations of fans became a reality after the brothers shared a warm hug at Paul’s house. Currently, they’re performing as a duo in several concerts across different parts in Africa.
3. Ini Edo welcomes a child
In December 2021, Nollywood actress, Ini Edo made headlines after she welcomed her first baby girl through surrogacy. Surrogacy is a type of pregnancy in which a baby is carried and delivered by a woman for a lady who is not able to or chooses not to carry a child. Surrogacy can either be done with the eggs of the woman who would carry the child or the eggs of an egg donor which would be fertilized with sperm from a sperm donor.
Ini Edo revealed that her eggs were used for surrogacy with the sperm of a donor which means that the child is biologically hers even as it was carried and delivered by another woman. She joined Nike Osinowo in the list of Nigerian celebrities who openly admitted to bearing their kids through surrogacy.
4. Emmanuella earned a highly reputable award
Emmanuella Samuel who’s best known for her hilarious roles in Mark Angel’s comedy won Nickelodeon’s Kid Choice Awards for the Favorite African Social Star in March 2021. Such an international award truly deserves recognition, once again congrats to Emmanuella.
5. Nine Nollywood stars acquired multi-million mansions for themselves
The Nigerian movie industry lost a significant number of stars in the year 2021. However, the year wasn’t all that bad as at least nine movie stars acquired a new home for themselves this year and they are as follows;
