Facebook Suspension: Buhari’s Controversial Message Gets Deleted By Facebook After Twitter

Facebook, the American-based social networking company has also banned Buhari’s viral tweet which made reference to the civil war statement.

Recall that Newsnownaija had reported that Twitter had taken down the tweet in which President Buhari made reference to the civil war statement. In reaction, the Federal Government announced that the suspension of Twitter in the country.

For the want to know, Buhari’s statement which follows the ban reads;

“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand.”

Well, it seems the trend is cutting across other social platforms as Facebook also follows the suit. Facebook claimed that Buhari’s statement was deleted because it goes against its standards and has the ability of stirring up violence.

Facebook in its way took down the whole speech of President Buhari unlike Twitter which deleted the tweet that made reference to the civil in the long thread.

Speaking on why Buhari’s message was deleted, Facebook wrote;

“In line with our global policies, we have removed a post from President Buhari’s Facebook page for violating our community standards against inciting violence.

“We remove any content from individual or organisation that violates our policies on facebook.”

Meanwhile, social media has been set abuzz by the suspension of the social media giant in Nigeria as many Nigeria are trying to find alternate ways to still operate on the platform.
