Zubby Michael is a very popular face in the Nigerian movie industry. Most people know Zubby as a bad boy on set but nobody knows much about this very talented Nollywood actor. On the first day of February, 1985, Zubby was born to Mr and Mrs Egwu, who are civil servants that are based in Awka, Anambra State.
Zubby is from a family of 5 kids, with his younger brother having a striking resemblance with him. When you see Zubby and his younger brother Chris, you would think that they are twins, but Zubby is actually his elder brother.
Zubby’s younger brother is a footballer. Zubby wanted to introduce his younger brother to the movie industry, but his brother insisted that he prefers playing football. After much pressure from Zubby, his younger brother tried his hand in acting by starring in some movies that were produced by Zubby.
Not much is known about Zubby’s younger sister, she prefers to keep things simple and quiet. One of his younger sisters is happily married with a set of twins.
With the kind of roles that Zubby plays in movies, we can say that he is the new representation of veteran actors like J.T Tomwest, Gentle Jack, Sam Dede and even Segun Arinze. Zubby goes by the full name of Azubuike Michael Egwu, he is a famous actor, movie producer, entrepreneur and politician.
Back in the year 2020, Zubby was listed among the richest actors in Nigeria, although it’s unofficial. Zubby is said to own properties in different parts of Nigeria, he’s doing well for himself.
Zubby wasn’t born in the Eastern part of Nigeria, he was born in the Northern region. Zubby hails from Ozubulu which is located in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state. He attended both primary and secondary school in Adamawa state, before he went to Anambra State for his tertiary education. Zubby graduated from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra state, Nigeria, with a Degree in Mass Communication.
Zubby has been in the Nollywood industry for a very long time. Although he officially joined Nollywood when he was 21 years old, when he was featured in the movie titled “Three Widows”. Another Star actress in this movie, is Oge Okoye.
Zubby moved on to feature in so many movies until his name became a household name. He delivered his role fantastically well in the movie titled “Omo Ghetto Saga”, alongside many popular Nollywood actors and actresses.
He was rumoured to be romantically linked with Nollywood actress Destiny Etiko, but he denied the claim, stating that they are just friends.
The talented Nollywood actor has featured in over 100 movies and he has so many awards to his name.
Zubby was appointed as the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) on Media to the Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano in the year 2019.
