Nigerian React as Sound Sultan gains 100K Instagram followers hours after he was announced dead

Veteran Nigerian singer, Sound Sultan, has gained over 100 thousand followers on his verified Instagram account, hours after he was announced dead.

Earlier today, Kemi Filani News reported his sad passing. The 44 years old Jagbajantis crooner, lost it to his battle with Angioimmunoblastic T- Cell Lymphoma.

According to information making rounds, the artist who is famous for his song Mathematics had already commenced chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in USA before he passed on today, Sunday, July 11.

Before his demise, he had 1.1 million followers, and few hours after his death was announced, his followers grew to 1.2 million and has continued to increase at a high rate.

Another notable change on his account is the number of comments on his most recent post. Sound Sultan’s most recent post has gained over 18,500 comments as against the 200 comments he gets on an average on his posts.

 

Sound Sultan’s career in show business started in the 1990s, when he hosted shows to raise money for studio sessions.

By 1999, he had won numerous local talent-hunt shows. He released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, which was a hit in Nigeria.

After independently releasing other singles and featuring in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis Music.

Sound Sultan began a working relationship with Wyclef Jean when featured alongside 2face Idibia and Faze on “Proud to be African” from Wyclef’s Welcome to Haiti: Creole 101 album.

In 2012, it was announced that Sound Sultan was made a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career.

In 2015, Sound Sultan released the rap single “Remember” after a long absence from the music scene.
