It’s no new thing that top footballers and celebrities do involve themselves in divorce sagas for several reasons, some of which are made known to the public, and some which are not.
Nevertheless, here will be looking at Pique and two other football stars who separated from their partners in the past.
1- Gerard Pique
Less than 48 hours ago, Gerard Pique and Shakira announced that they are separating after 12 years together.
The 45-year-old popular singer and 35-year-old defender have two sons; Milan, born in 2013, and Sasha, born in 2015.
However, despite having two lovely boys, this did not stop them from separating.
They said in a joint statement, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we request respect for (our) privacy. Thank you for your understanding,”.
2 – Ryan Giggs
Just like Gerard Pique, Ryan Giggs was married to Stacey in 2007 with two children. But after 10 years of marriage, the pair separated.
It is believed the couple separated after the current Wales manager’s eight-year affair with his younger brother’s wife Natasha Lever got to another level.
3 – Anthony Martial
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial was dumped by his wife Melanie Da Cruz in April after it was reported that he cheated on his wife while she was pregnant.
Melanie called time on her three-year marriage with Martial in April, while claiming that “love was not enough,”.
She said on her Instagram account
“Sometimes you have to stop running to win the race. I’m not used to talking about my personal life, but I do it today for everyone’s happiness and for the future. There is no easy break, but I can do it with the utmost respect and humility on my part,”. She added “Living together is often a long road full of dangers. Giving up is not part of my nature, but this is where our paths differ. For almost 3 years we said ‘yes’, I thought for a lifetime, unfortunately, love is not enough. What I realized cannot be put into words here”.
