Why I Stopped Mimicking Davido – Low Budget Davido finally speaks Out

There are a lot of people who use their platforms to mimic or impersonate people. A year ago, a Nigerian comedian was seen in the public eye after he took to his Instagram page to mimic Davido after many realized how similar his voice sounded to Davido.

The comedian identified as Nas Boi started sharing series of videos to his page playing the character called “LowBudget OBO”. The similarity in his voice between the character he played and Davido got him a lot of eyeballs and also attention of Davido. He had a collaboration with Davido after he chanced on one o the videos.

However, Nas Boi has stopped mimicking Davido after he shot into the limelight but rather he makes dramatic skits with storylines, posts inspirational messages and videos, and also collaborates with other content creators like Josh 2 Funny to make diverse content.

In an interview on TVC’s Wake Up Nigeria, Nas Boi was asked why he stopped the mimicking because that is how he shot to the limelight. Replying to why he stopped mimicking Davido, he said…

“No, I’ve played out of the character. Maybe last year and early this year, I walk on the street and everybody is like OBO OBO, everywhere and I’m like ‘Ah ah’. So I decided to show some other characters because I am very certain that they will get tired of the character. It’s normal. I’ve seen it. That’s Nigeria for you.”

“They get excited for new things then all of a sudden they’re gone. So I decided to show my other characters and my other characters earned me movie roles. I’m sure if I was doing the Lowbudget OBO character constantly, I would have been gone by now. I’m a comedian, I’m not a fool”.
