8 Deaths That Hit The Nigerian Entertainment Sector This Year

The Nigerian Entertainment industry is one of the most thriving industries in Nigeria and has put smiles on the faces of many people. Sadly, some of these entertainers who have contributed a lot to the entertainment industry are no more.

In this article, I will be showing you about eight (8) painful deaths that hit the Nigerian industry this year being 2021.

1) Sam Obiagu

Sam Obiagu was a popular Nigerian actor, movie producer, and TV personality who has featured in over 100 Nollywood movies. He started acting in 2013 and managed to rise to be one of the most sought actors in Nigeria. Sam Obiago often plays the role of Kings, fatherly roles in movies.

Daddy Sam was confirmed dead on Wednesday being the 22nd of December, 2021, by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas. He died just 2-3 days before Christmas.


2) Sound Sultan

Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fassai, better known as Sound Sultan, was a well-known Nigerian musician. He died on Sunday being the 11th of June, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. He died at the age of 44.

He was well known for using his music to speak against poverty, corruption, bad governance, and societal ills in Nigeria.

3) Baba Suwe

Alhaji King Babatunde Omidina, better known by his stage name as Baba Suwe. He was a known Nigerian actor and comedian. He was born on the 22nd of August, 1958, and died on the 22nd of November, 2021.

His son Adesola Omidina disclosed the death of his father on his Instagram page. Baba Suwe died at the age of 63.


4) Rachel Oniga

Rachel Oniga was a well-known Nigerian Nollywood actress. The star actress was born on the 23rd of May 1957 and has starred in over 100 movies before her death. Rachel died from Coronary heart on the 30th of July 2021, at the age of 64.

5) Bruno Iwuoha

Bruno Iwuoha was a Nigerian multiple award-winning Nollywood actor. He died on the 10th of April, 2021 after a prolonged battle with diabetes. The veteran actor and the father of six children died at the age of 68.

6) Jim Lawson Maduike

Jim Lawson Maduike was one of Nigeria’s top veteran actors, he started featuring in movies in 2004 and has starred in over 100 movies before his death. He died on the 9th of January, 2021 after complaining of severe body pains, he died at the age of 63.

7) Ernest Asuzu

Ernest Asuzu was a known Nigerian veteran actor, he was born on the 7th of May 1984, and died on the 26th of January, 2021.

His partner, Jennifer Asuzu confirmed the sad incident and according to her, he fainted one evening and never woke up. Ernest Asuzu died at the age of 37.

8) Ada Jesus

Mmesoma Mercy Obi, popular known as Ada Jesus was a popular Nigerian comedienne. The young comedienne died after battling kidney disease and also suffered a cardiac arrest. She died on the 20th of April, 2021, at the age of 23.
